Robinia wood is at the same time elastic, very durable and resistant to sudden climate changes (wet / dry). The color of this wood is very variable and with vaporization it tends to darken; lends itself well to processing, finishing and polishing.
Also thanks to these characteristics it can effectively replace, in various uses, exotic essences, thus allowing to slow down the deforestation of tropical areas (South America, Asia and Africa). The seasoning of Robinia wood is very slow ; moreover, this species has a high calorific value and a low water content in the fresh state.
The peculiarities of Robinia wood, in particular its hardness and the fact that it absorbs very little water (see the summary diagram below) have the great advantage of increasing its resistance and therefore lengthen its average life . However, this also makes coloring / painting of the various components rather difficult, since the color adheres to the most superficial layer of the treated part, but cannot penetrate deeply into the pores of the essence. For these reasons it is possible that the coloring treatment must be repeated to keep its beauty and brilliance intact.
